Modesto Plans a Line-Up of Events for May
Planning a line-up of events from a Governor's Luncheon to a Senior Awareness Day, the Center for Senior Employment (CSE) in Modesto , Calif. , created quite a buzz during Older Americans Month. Senior Aides with CSE began the month by attending a Governor's Luncheon honoring local employers who hire seniors. That same week, the CSE handed out information on the Senior AIDES program to veterans during a fair hosted by the local Veteran's Affairs Council on May 8.
Senior Aides were then honored at a luncheon with host agencies on May 14. All of the project's Aides received awards for their outstanding work in their job training placements. "It was a really strong year for everyone so we decided to give out awards to each of them," said project director Joanne Waters.
The following day, more than 3,000 attendees participated in Senior Awareness Day with food, entertainment, speakers and more. Silver and gold ribbons were distributed as a reminder of the contributions that seniors make in local communities.
The month finished out with a cognitive vitality training session held at Stanislaus County Free Library in Modesto . The event which was presented to 60 attendees was presented by five Senior Aides.
