Bob Harootyan

Bob Harootyan, MS, MA,has been manager of research at SSAI since 2008. He has directed the SCSEP Fellows Programs and overseen SSAI’s external research projects. Bob’s ongoing work includes analyses of SSAI’s Senior Community Service Employment Program and trends related to workforce challenges of low-income elders. He also conducts studies on SSAI’s Digital Inclusion Initiative and its subsequent projects promoting digital literacy for seniors. Bob’s experience in demographic, technological, and economic aspects of agingbegan as a faculty member at the University of Southern California (Andrus Gerontology Center) and Cornell University (College of Human Ecology). He subsequently held research leadership positions at the California Department of Aging, the American Society on Aging, the U.S. Congress Office of Technology Assessment, and AARP. He directed major policy-related studies, including Technology and Aging in America, Life-Sustaining Technologies and the Elderly, and Intergenerational Linkages: Hidden Connections in American Society(with V. Bengtson) and wrote two background papers for the 1995 White House Conference on Aging. Bob is a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America. (bharootyan@ssa-i.org)
