SEQUESTRATION UPDATE
SSAI is monitoring carefully the potential "sequestration". This is a complicated situation and the agencies are preparing how to best respond to this unique challenge.
As, we have received numerous inquiries and requests for clarification around furlough hours/days required to be taken by SEE Enrollees, we are sending this notice as a follow up to our communication on March 7, 2013.
- All SEE Enrollees are required to take an unpaid furlough day on Friday, May 24, 2013. This is a "Designated Furlough Day" for Federal EPA Employees.
- SEE Enrollees, whose regular schedule would include working on May 24th, are not to report to their worksite and cannot use banked sick or vacation time. This applies to ALL SEE ENROLLEES, including Home-Based Inspectors and Telecommuters. No expenses can be incurred on this day.
- SEE Enrollees, who are scheduled to work on Friday, May 24, 2013 but did not because of the furlough day, should reflect these furlough hours on their electronic timecard using "Furlough" in the list of earning codes.
- SEE Enrollees who are not regularly scheduled to work on this day will not be affected.
In the month of June, EPA Headquarters will be assessing the cost-saving plans it has implemented. Based on the results of the assessment, there may be two additional designated furlough days on Friday, July 5, 2013 and Friday, August 30, 2013.
